Doug Bell first picked up a guitar at age 9 and joined his first band at age 18. He began writing songs and performing with original rock groups and solo and duo acoustic acts in the 1960s.

Bell left the music business to begin a career in real estate, but returned In 1991 and formed Bellevue Cadillac and began writing the first of six CDs for the band.

The first CD, 'Black and White,' was recorded by the legendary producer Rob Fraboni, which also had the lead track on the compliation CD 'Swing This Baby!' which kicked off the neo-swing movement and put Bell's songs on 14 additional CD compilations with such artists as, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Peggy Lee, Mel Torment and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Doug Bell's next Bellevue Cadillac CD, 'Prozac Nation', also produced by Fraboni, further entrenched Bell's songwriting by adding film credits, for the movie Shallow Hal and several television shows, including The Sopranos, Touched by an Angel, Las Vegas, Crossing Jordan, Ed, Brimstone, All My Children, Brotherhood, Duckman, Good and Evil and Passions.Ý During this time, Doug Bell and Bellevue Cadillac had cover stories in Rolling Stone, Jazziz, Swingtime Magazines and pick of the week in People magazine. Access Hollywood, VH1, live coverage on CNN's Showbiz Tonite, and NPR and Rolling Stone cited Bell's writing as the 'Best in the Genre.'

In 2007, Doug Bell's 'Love Always' CD, which was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge, wound up on the Grammy Ballot in 7 categories including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Performance by A Duo or Group, and Song of the Year for 'You Just Know' and 'Three Rules.' 'Three Rules' went on to be covered by Ayla Brown of American Idol phenom.

Doug Bell's most recent CD 'Once in a Blue Moon' was placed on the 2011 Grammy Ballot for Album of the Year, Best Traditional Blues Album, and the song, 'Snake Charmer' for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by A Duo or Group.

Bell has performed on stage with musical legends Ray Charles, James Brown, Steven Tyler, B.B. King, Jane Monheit, Tito Puente, Kool and the Gang, Percy Sledge, Huey Lewis, J. Geils, James Cotton, Ruth Brown, Joan Osborne, Diane Shurr, Patti Austin, Jeffrey Osborne, Dave Mason, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford and Al Kooper. This year the Vimeo production, 'Doug Bell - An Artist and his Music,' produced by Jack Celli, won the award for Best Production in New England.

Currently Doug Bell is producing and recording a new CD, 'Doug Bell and Friends,' with Jim Foster at the helm.
