Give us a one-sentence description of your music : 'Country Rock with urban themes; allowing listeners to envision themselves in my songs and make human connections along the way!'

Finish the sentence : 'Someone will like my music if they like...good music!'

Key career highlights :

  • At the top of the list is the making of "Broadway Lights;" my debut album that I wrote all the lyrics and music for and executive produced! Check out www.danmccormickmusic.com for more links and highlights!
  • I am very honored to say that from this album, my songs "Karaoke Night" and "Coney Island Girl" recently received radio play on Rockland World Radio and Radio Crystal Blue; and "Coney Island Girl" was chosen from over 800 submissions!
  • "Coney Island Girl" also received an excellent review from the music blog, Big Medicine; check it out and see the moving video at: http://bigmedicine.ca
  • My song "Cross Country Rhythm" was chosen for the soundtrack of the PBS National TV series ROADTRIP NATION 2012, which reaches nearly eighty percent of U.S. households!

How and when you started making music : 'I like to think I’ve been making music my whole life, as at the heart of every good song is a lifetime of experiences. That said, as a creative artist I’m fortunate to also be able to express my voice as an actor and playwright; and so when I started singing cover songs with my two brothers in the local bars of Philly about six years ago, I was unexpectedly hit by the perfect storm called Musical Theater.

Soon after, I wrote the book and lyrics to my first rock musical "The Myth of Dreams" and found myself work-shopping it at the prestigious Actors Studio in New York City. During that time, I also studied piano and it was as if I dug up buried treasure; lyric, melody, beat, timing and rhythm poured out of me to write dozens of new songs and ultimately record my debut album "Broadway Lights!'

What makes your music different? 'A friend once told me that when she listens to my music, she’s not just listening to a song, but rather she’s landing right in the middle of a life story that everyone can relate to. And that to me is the greatest compliment I could get, as whether they’re rockin’ fun crowd favorites such as 'Karaoke Night' and 'That’s a Love Song' or moving ballads like 'Coney Island Girl' and 'Let’s Get Caught In The Rain,' there is a visceral, almost cinematic feeling to my songs that draws you in emotionally and continues to move you long after the 'record stops spinning …'

Convince me to see your next show : 'I got free beer, hot naked back-up singers and you got guaranteed front row seats for you and ten of your closest friends!

Okay, okay, so all of that is a complete lie, but what you will get is excellent, well-crafted original songs played with 110% high octane, yet often subtle passion and adrenalin, preferably upon a beat-up upright piano, from an up and coming singer songwriter who guarantees that he will truly be the best part of your day! And then you can buy me a beer!'

Why is it important for you to connect with music fans and what do you have to offer them as an artist? 'When I was a kid, I remember running home and I would grab my favorite album from The Beatles or Journey or Springsteen and on and on, and I would play it on the record player over and over again and I would read and consume the lyrics!

'And so that’s what I wanted for my album too. I wanted people to want to do that again. I have an 8-page booklet with lyrics; really good lyrics that were only put down and recorded into song because I believed so strongly that others would like them even more than I did once they heard them.

'Everything is so immediate these days and so if there is anything that I have to offer, it truly is "Broadway Lights;" a 13-song collection of tunes that I put my heart and soul into so you can kick back, sing along and just enjoy wherever the spirit takes you!.'
