Billy Gilman burst on the national scene in 2000 at 11 years old with a big
voice, commanding stage presence and the behind the scenes poise of a
seasoned performer. He soon had a hit record with Sony Nashville with
the compelling ballad 'One Voice,' and became the youngest person to
place a single on Billboard Magazine's Country Singles Chart, edging out
previous title-holder Brenda Lee.
In four weeks, Billyís debut
album had sold 500,000 copies and he became the youngest
country artist in history to score a Gold album. Billy became
a music industry phenomenon. Within three months, album
sales reached 1 million copies, making him the youngest
solo artist in ANY genre of music to achieve a Platinum-selling
album.
Billy went on to record three
more Gold albums for Sony Nashville, including 'Classic
Christmas' in 2000, which joined 'One Voice' in the Top
Ten on Billboard Magazine's Country Albums Chart. He then
won the American Music Award for Favorite New Country Artist,
again becoming the youngest performer to ever win the award.
In May 2001, Sony Nashville issued Gilman's third project,
'Dare to Dream,' and in April 2002 released 'Music Through
Heartsongs,' a concept album of songs based on the work
of young poet Mattie Stepanek.
Billy was signed to Image Entertainment in 2004 and has released two
acclaimed CDs, 'Everything and More' (2005) and 'Billy Gilman' (2006)
which includes the hits 'Everything and More,' 'Hey Little Susie,'
'Southern Star,' and the Pam Tillis duet, 'Almost Over (Getting Over
You).'
To date, Billy has sold over 6 million records.
