BingBoy, aka
Clarence Becton, was born in Chicago, Illinois on its Southside.
The youngest sibling of two sisters, and a single parent
his mother, BingBoy had been nurtured by females much of
his young life. It wasn't until he was old enough that his
mother let him venture out into the world. The block or
the streets would quickly become BingBoyís other parent.
Open to this new world filled
with positive as well as negative influences, he learned
the art of street hustling. A two-sided picture was painted,
on one side you had this individual that was a "B" honor
roll student and on the other side a drug dealing adolescent,
trouble would soon come knocking. Picked up for carrying
a concealed weapon, Prince would escape with a no probable
cause ruling. That wouldnít be the last time BingBoy would
have had a brush with the law.
Being an honor roll student allowed BingBoy to
attend the only college that he applied to, Howard University.
This historically black college would have a lasting impression
on the Chicago native. After spending two years at Howard
University the engineer major choose (chose) to leave due
to financial problems. BingBoy knew that alone his mother
would not be able to continue to support his college career,
so he left in the fall of 1997.
After returning home he
attended Columbia College where he took some (delete some)
music classes. All through his life he had been surrounded
by music. His grandmother was part of his grammar school's
choir, and he spent some time in the choir also. BingBoy as
a child could be found playing with headphones listening to
Chicago's local radio station (107.5), which at the time played
R&B and some rap/ hip-hop. Rap music or Hip-Hop was in full
swing by 2000. BingBoy was in deep listening to rap greats
such as 2pac, The Ghetto Boyz, N.W.A, Nas, Ice Cube as well
as still staying glued to any R&B, formulating his rhyme patterns
the rap artist know as BingBoy was born.
After obtaining a
$5000.00 loan from his aunt he built an in-home studio, spending
many days recording. Privileged to be placed next to blues
legend Buddy Guy's son, the creative process behind music
was prevalent. Quickly as musical expressions were produced
BingBoy would eat up whatever Guy's son spit at him. Learning
to produce, BingBoy opened the studio doors to the surrounding
area and then Chicago.
Producing many grass root artists as
well as himself, BingBoy has created a buzz not only as
a good producer but also as a solo artist. MySpace proved
to be a platform where he reached out to fans as well as various
producers, one of which allowed BingBoy to have a slot on
an underground song featuring recording artist Fabulous.
In order to secure mainstream
success BingBoy continues to crank out song after song,
which led to the slogan "A million songs and running." Song
after song after song until a million songs is reached with
the idea that, there is someone that will like one song
out of a million and if all sold for one dollar a piece
he would have the one million dollar mark he strives to
achieve.
