Christina brightens the holidays with the re-release of 'My Kind of Christmas'

Christina

The weather outside may be frightful, but the holidays will sound more delightful than ever this year, as Grammy-winning superstar and RCA Records recording artist Christina Aguilera re-releases 'My Kind of Christmas,' a soulful collection of sacred carols, holiday pop classics, and newly-written songs for the season. 'My Kind of Christmas' is now available again in stores everywhere.

Songs on the album include 'Christmastime,' by Celebrity Status / Ron Fair (the team responsible for Christina's hit 'Come On Over Baby'); 'This Year,' by The Matrix and Christina Aguilera; and 'These Are The Special Times,' a Diane Warren original.

Sacred carols include 'Angels We Have Heard On High,' and 'O Holy Night' sung by Christina along with Billy Preston and a 70-voice Gospel Choir. Christmas standards included on the album are: Donny Hathaway's 'This Christmas,' the jazz-flavored classic 'Merry Christmas, Baby,' performed as a duet with Dr. John, with horns by Sammy Nestico (The Count Basie Orchestra); 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,' performed with a 70-piece orchestra arranged by Grammy award winner Don Sebesky; and Mel Torme's immortal 'The Christmas Song,' reinterpreted by Christina as an up-tempo dance track.

Said producer Ron Fair of the making of the new album, 'As planning for the album began, we looked at virtually every single Christmas song ever written. We chose to record songs she felt she could stretch on artistically and musically. So she was able to bring a poignant blues dimension, a spiritually charged gospel feel, and a powerfully contemporary sound as well.'

The album was recorded in between concert dates on Christina's extensive worldwide tour. Thus, various tracks were recorded in Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg, Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Nashville and Minneapolis.

Said Christina, 'I wanted to bring a real R&B edge to some of these songs. Making the album really unleashed the soul in me. I'd say it's an all-around feel-good album.' As for her own favorite Christmas memories, Christina adds, 'I remember when I was about eight, running down the stairs, looking under the tree and finding that Barbie Kitchen I wanted so badly. That was my coolest Christmas memory.'

Having won two Grammys including one for Best New Artist, Christina has already sold more than 23 million records worldwide since the release of her chart-topping self-titled 1999 RCA debut. Thanks to the #1 premiere single 'Genie In A Bottle,' the #1 smash follow-ups 'What A Girl Wants,' 'Come On Over Baby,' 'Lady Marmalade,' and the already classic 'I Turn To You,' Christina Aguilera has emerged as the prime musical voice of her generation.
