Christina hosts and wins at 2001
Radio Music Awards

ChristinaLAS VEGAS, Nevada - 'Lady Marmalade' - Christina's smash single with Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink - picked up another in a string of awards, winning the 2001 Radio Music Award for Song of the Year: Top 40 - Pop Radio.

Christina told the crowd, 'Thank you so much. I had so much fun making that record, and I feel kind of weird because I don't have my girls with me to accept this award. But first and foremost on behalf of all the girls and I, thank you to radio so much for playing that song. It was such a fun project. And thank you to Pink, Mya, Lil' Kim. I love you girls and I had so much fun with you. This is for you guys, and none of this would be possible without everyone's support. Thank you so much to the fans, too.'

In addition, Christina along with Gavin Rossdale of the band Bush hosted this year's ceremony that was broadcast live on Friday, October 26 on the ABC television network from the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

'It is kind of a different thing for me,' said Christina, prior to hosting the show. 'I'm not performing. But it'll be a fun night just because God knows what's going to happen.' She added, 'I was really surprised to find out we have 14 performances, which is pretty amazing.'

The ceremony lasted three-hours and was held in Aladdin's Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Musical performers included Mariah Carey, Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Jessica Simpson, Lifehouse, Stevie Nicks, Shakira, Sugar Ray, Martina McBride, Craig David, Nikka Costa, O-Town, Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z.

Presenters included Afroman, Alyson Hannigan, Bell Biv DeVoe, Christina Milian, Destiny's Child, Dwight Yoakam, India Arie, Jessica Simpson, Lee Ann Womack, Lil' Romeo, Master P, Nelly Furtado, Papa Roach, Rachel Hunter, Rascal Flatts and Shannon Elizabeth.

The ceremony recognizes the achievements of recording artists and radio personalities in the formats of Top 40/Pop, Pop Alternative, Hip Hop/Rhythmic, Alternative/Rock and Country. In addition to awards based on radio airplay, awards for Most Requested Artist, Most Requested Song and Most Requested Party Song of the Year were voted on by radio listeners. The Legend Award was presented to Elton John for his significant contributions to the music industry.

Complementing the Radio Music Awards was the Radio MegaBlast, a two-day event packed with live radio broadcasts, receptions, concerts, award ceremonies and more. During MegaBlast, some 150 radio stations from across the country broadcast live interviews with award nominees, major recording artists and popular celebrities.

Aladdin's Theatre for the Performing Arts was the site of last year's Radio Music Awards broadcast. The venue has also hosted the first Billboard Music Awards and the Miss Universe Pageant.

Christina has already won awards this year for her part in the 'Lady Marmalade' re-make for the 'Moulin Rouge' soundtrack including Video of the Year at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. Christina said, 'That song is special to me just because it was my opportunity to be in my own little cool girl group.'
