Born Daniel DiPretein Albuquerque, NM, he grew up in both Italy and then the state of Rhode Island - a fan of rock, alternative rock, blues and classical music.
In his youth he played clarinet, keys and drums and while in college he was a drummer and singer in two groups - the Fungize and Joe's Band. He managed
to continue with the Fungize during his first year of medical school until medicine eventually required a multi-year hiatus from music.
He went on to complete medical school and subspecialty training at Brown University. After a total of 22 years of formal education (23 if he had gone to
kindergarten!) he began practicing and formed his own company independently developing numerous medical imaging centers. A successful sale of the
company ultimately allowed him to circle back to his first love.
Returning to his musical roots including drums and keys, he expanded to guitar while beginning instruction in recording, audio engineering and music
production under the direction of Michael White (of Whitney Houston, Rolling Stones and David Bowie recording fame).
When not singing or recording, he is usually playing tennis. Dan DiPrete is a solo artist / producer, currently releasing master recordings of classic cover
versions with a mixed but predominantly rock/blues foundation. His additional influences include modern indie, acoustic, R&B and funk.
He resides and records in Rhode Island and Turks and Caicos.
