Johnny Vibrato
is a trio that has been remarkably good at getting gigs,
increasing its audience, promoting the band and having a
great time in the process. This group is undoubtedly the
hardest-working blues band in Hartford - and maybe even
New England. They've now won The Advocate's 'Best of Hartford
Readers' Poll' for 'Best Blues Band' for a second year straight.
'Our plans are to expand our boundaries, to play
more in outlying areas and to increase our market coverage,'
says drummer Brad Parliman, whose savvy business sense has
been a driving force. 'In striving to do that, there are
other things you need to do at the same time, so we're going
into the studio. We've got about four albums' worth of material,
so it's exciting.'
The main attraction at a Johnny Vibrato gig is guitarist
John McNally a.k.a. Johnny Vibrato himself. the stocky bluesman
gets dirty, sweaty and nasty at every gig, standing on tables,
playing with his teeth and creeping through the crowd with
his Strat. The visual excitement is always intense.
'We seem to be able to please a wide range of folks,' says Parliman. 'I can't tell you the last time we had a bad night, and I think that lends itself to Johnny's energy-and having our own music. I think the important thing is that we built it on original music. Most people are surprised when they find out we wrote the music.'
Blues Revue Magazine raves, 'Wicked instrumental
work. Great guitar sounds."
