Peter Wolf is a mult-Grammy nominated, world-renowned songwriter, producer, arranger and composer. He has written eight #1 songs and produced, arranged and/or written for a wide range of musical talents including Jefferson Starship, Commodores, Wang Chung, Pablo Cruise, Grace Slick, Heart, El Debarge, Kenny Loggins, Santana, Patti LaBelle, The Pointer Sisters, Chicago, Go West, Cliff Richard, Natalie Cole, The Scorpions, and Oleta Adams.
Born in Vienna, Wolf studied classical piano at the Vienna's Conservatory of Music and won the European Jazz Festival as a solo pianist at age 16. He came to America in his early 20's and began playing keyboards for Frank Zappa And the Mothers of Invention in the late 70's. He was one of America's top ranking studio keyboardists and arrangers from 1980 to 1985 and started his production
career in 1985 with the multi-platinum selling the STARSHIP album 'Knee Deep in the Hoopla.'
In 1986 Wolf had string of four straight #1 singles that he produced and cowrote, starting with STARSHIP'S 'We Built This City' and 'Sara', EL DEBARGE'S 'Who's Johnny,' from the movie 'Short Circuit,' and WANG CHUNG'S 'Everybody Have Fun Tonight.'
After co-producing and arranging the COMMODORE'S #1 hit single 'Nightshift' from the album of the same name and HEART'S biggest selling album entitled 'HEART' which sold more than 7 million records. He wrote and produced Kenny Loggins' hit 'Playin' With the Boys' for the movie 'Top Gun' which sold more than 9 million copies. Peter also arranged the smash single 'On My Own' with PATTI LABELLE and MICHAEL MCDONALD.
Some of the other acts Wolf has produced include LOU GRAMM'S solo album and THE ESCAPE CLUB for Atlantic Records. Following his huge success with the GO WEST single 'King of Wishful Thinking' on the 'Pretty Woman' soundtrack he then produced their next album 'Indian Summer' which included the hit single 'Faithful.'
In 1994 Wolf produced the POINTER SISTERS album 'Only Sisters Can Do That' for SBK Records, CHICAGO'S album 'The Stone of Sisyphus' and produced 3 singles for the Benson Records group 4 HIM which reached the #1 spots on both the Christian AC and Christian CHR charts.
In addition to his career in the world of rock and popular music Wolf has also scored a number of major motion pictures including the 1993 hit 'Neverending Story III,' and 'Weekend at Bernieís II.' Wolf has composed 12 film scores including some in Europe and has also written and performed on 6 of his own albums for the Polydor and WEA labels.
Sold into 105 countries, Peter scores the music for Europe, Asia, Australia and South Americaís premiere television show ìKommissar Rexî for the third season. He has just composed the score for the Leon DeWinterís major motion picture ìThe Hollywood Signî, starring Burt Reynolds, Tom Beringer and Rod Steiger.
He composed the music and produced the entertainment blocks of the World Sports Awards 2000 and 2001 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Wolf has recently performed a new millennium symphony he was commissioned to create for the 25th Annual SoundCloud Festival, one of the worlds renowned and acclaimed open air music festivals, that took place on September 4th in Linz, Austria on the Danube River in front of an audience 123,000 people. The PROGRESSION Symphony by Wolf is a new 81 minute piece which will include vocal narration by actor Klaus Maria Brandauer and performances by rap star Coolio, R&B soul singer James Ingram, British rock star Cliff Richard, pop sensation Jennifer Paige, opera singer Vincenzo LaScola, rock singer and guitarist Steve Lukather of Toto, famous Russian violinist Julian Rachlin, and
Peter's wife, singer and lyricist Michelle Wolf. The concert aired simultaneously on Austrian and German television and radio, and this high visibility event was sponsored by the Austrian government and UNICEF.
Presently, Peter is busy writing a musical with his writing partner, lyricist, Michelle Wolf, and world-renowned author Leon DeWinter. The musical will premiere in historical Berlin¥s Theater des Westens in fall 2003, move to Viennaís Theater an der Wien in fall of 2004, and then go on to Tokyo.
Peter has also just signed a contract to write a new symphony for the Linzer SoundCloud festival for the year 2004.
Peter and his wife, Michelle maintain homes in both the Los Angeles area and in his native Austria and travel easily between the worlds of both American and European music.
