Skye talks about her music:
'My music is a lyrically-driven, catchy brand of rock-infused pop. I started writing music when I was 13. I had always written poems and sang but I never thought of combining the two. After my first song came out almost by accident, I couldn't stop writing. I've been writing songs for 7 years now at a rate of about a song a week.'
'My major influences are a mix of different genres including Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, Weezer, and Michelle Branch. My music is different because it's honest and can be interpreted to fit the situation of anyone that is listening. Sometimes I'll tell a story that came to life in my mind with characters and a backdrop and everything, and sometimes I'll sing about my own personal experiences exactly as they happened. The choruses are catchy but the lyrics are always meaningful and thoughtful.'
'I recorded my first demo CD at 16. I then started
gigging around NYC at 17 and went on to play some of the
city's best venues such as The Knitting Factory, Pinaos,
CBGB's, and The Bitter End. I recorded my second CD at 19
on which I did my own production and arranging for all but
two of the songs. A recent highlight was a feature interview
at www.starpolish.com.'
'I want to connect with music fans because I want them to benefit from what my songs have to say. I know that certain songs have been the one thing that got me through a hard time or helped me to make an important decision. That one special song can be the highlight of a summer or the anthem of a breakup. I know that my songs can be that important for fans and it would make me so happy to give them a story, a melody, or even just a few words that could help them.'
'Other highlights: being represented by Big Noise, being chosen for a sponsorship by Northeast In Tune Magazine, being chosen for representation by Rainmaker PR group of Boston, and winning honorable mention in the Billboard International Songwriting Contest.'
