Tommy Gee Tells the Tale

• Drum lessons at age 7 thru 14
• Self-taught in bass guitar, guitar and mandolin
• Studied violin for two years
• Performed with many original bands both on Long Island and NYC along with stints in two popular cover bands East Coast and Hollywood knights

I played bass guitar in Man-ster, a famous Long Island jazz-rock fusion group which was popular in NYC and a staple of the legenday CBGB's club and legacy. Man-ster appeared on the famous 'Live at CBGB's' album which was distributed by Atlantic Records.

Man-ster then signed a production deal with Genya Ravan ('Ten Wheel Drive'), on her own record label, Polish Records. Also signed to her label, was Ronnie Spector, who I had the opportunity to play with. Genya was close to some the of the Saturday Night Live crew at the time, especially the late Gilda Radner who loved Man-ster's unique sound.

Remaining in touch with Hilly Krystal, owner of CBGB's, I performed at the club with two more of my own original bands - T.V.M.D. and Pets on the Couch. T.V.M.D. was the second headliner for The Bongos opening shows at several larger Long Island clubs.

During this time period - early '80s - I had the opportunity to play bass in an acoustic trio named Robal which featured two other members from Man-ster. Robal was managed by Bruce Springsteen's former manager, Mike Appel, who financed the project intended to be released on Columbia Records.

After years of musical - medical - and family tragedies, my living spirit has come forth with 'Life Rock' - an eclectic compilation of music styles, tones, timbres, and provocative poetry - a minstrel waterfall. Recorded under my personal creation, The Planeteers, 'Life Rock' mirrors our peaks and valleys, realities, fantasies, the good and bad of life on Planet Earth, and beyond.

I truly hope your hearts and souls are motivated - imagination activated by the music of The Planeteers.

I thank you for your spirits, curiosity, and attention. - Tommy Gee
